Howard County: Maryland’s All-Star for Sports

By Sponsored Content, July 25, 2017

Welcome to Maryland’s emerging all-star of sports! Howard County is a highly regarded location for athletes, teams and their coaches. The area’s convenient location, welcoming attitude and great value combine to make it a top sports destination.

We are proud to be the home of the Columbia Iron Girl Triathlon, National High School Lacrosse Showcase, Columbia Soccer Invitational and many other top notch events.

Located in-between Baltimore and Washington D.C., Howard County is easily accessible from major highways and home to attractions, museums and hotels that can transform your weekend tournament to a memorable family affair.

Kids and teens will enjoy access to attractions like Autobahn Indoor Speedway (where they can zip around indoor tracks in European style go-karts) and Terrapin Adventures, Howard County’s premier adventure provider.

Other group friendly activities and attractions that may appeal to the younger crowd include Clark’s Elioak Farm (pony rides, a petting zoo and larger than life fairytale attractions), the Columbia Swim Center, Robinson Nature Center, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament and the National Aquarium.

Moms & Dads can take advantage of the area’s wellness and outdoor facilities. Haven on the Lake is a 27,000 square foot retreat that offers a wide variety of classes, several healing environments like a crystal salt therapy room, and is home to The Still Point Spa. There are also 8 area golf courses and Patapsco Valley State Park.

Parents can also explore the HowardOnTap Craft Brew Trail. Many of the trail stops are family friendly. If your group is looking for a bite to eat along the trail, The Ale House Columbia, Ellicott Mills Brewing Company, Rams Head Tavern Savage Mill and Frisco Tap House can all accommodate larger parties. (Reservations are recommended.)
