Up for Bid: 2016 USA Weightlifting American Open

USA Weightlifting is currently seeking bids to host its 2016 American Open in early December. The event is expected to draw 500 athletes and about 600 spectators.

Here are the details:

Deadline to bid: Feb. 28

Preferred dates: Dec. 1-4 or Dec. 8-11

Venue requirements: 30,000 square feet of flexible competition space; seating for 600 spectators (preferably raised); breakout rooms; Wi-Fi

Estimated number of participants:  500

Hotel requirements: Near airport; walking distance to venue

Room nights: 1,300

Rate: $119

Rights fee: $8,000; $500 consideration fee
