Best Sports Cities List of 2019 Revealed

Best Sports Cities: Los Angeles 2024 Olympic Bid
Three future homes of the Summer Olympics are among the top sports cities, according to a recent survey presented by a respected international communications firm. Burson Cohn & Wolfe Sports places Los Angeles (2028 Games), Paris (2024 Olympics) and Tokyo (2020) as the second, third and fourth top cities for sports, respectively. London, the 2012 Olympics host, topped the list at No. 1. Lausanne, Switzerland, home of the International Olympic Committee, rounds out the top five. “It is interesting to see that the Olympic rings remain the most powerful brand with which cities can be associate,” notes Lars Haue-Pedersen, managing director of BCW Sports. Other American cities in the top include New York (6), Chicago (12), Boston (13) and Atlanta (19). Interestingly, Boston initially was the U.S. representative to bid on the 2024 Olympics before public discontent forced local organizers to back out. Atlanta hosted the Olympics in 1996 and is in the middle of a remarkable run of hosting the College Football Playoff National Championship; Super Bowl and men’s Final Four in consecutive years. Salt Lake City, another past, and potential future, Olympic host is poised to join the top 50 sports cities in 2020, BCW forecasts. BCW’s top 10 is as follows: 1. London 2. Los Angeles 3. Paris 4. Tokyo 5. Lausanne 6. New York 7. Barcelona 8. Madrid 9. Beijing 10. Manchester, England
