NSCAA Convention Underway in Philadelphia

By Parrish Walton, January 15, 2015

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America is holding its annual convention in Philadelphia this week. Soccer coaches, administrators, referees, business leaders and more—including soccer legend Pele—will attend. All told around 9,000 attendees are expected, which will contribute more than $17 million in economic impact to the city, including 11,000 hotel room nights in the area.

The NSCAA convention coincides with Major League Soccer’s Super Draft, the annual team draft of new players. There is also a traditional trade show as well as some 200 instructional and training segments for coaches and referees.

This year Pele and famed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will speak as will U.S. Men’s National Team stars Landon Donovan and Demarcus Beasley. The insane schedule—it’s jam-packed—can be found here. This is the second consecutive year Philadelphia has hosted the NSCAA Convention and the 11th time overall.
