Kansas City Produces Snazzy Video Targeting Big 12 Basketball

Kansas City is in a tight race with Dallas, Oklahoma City, Des Moines and Tulsa to win the rights to the Big 12 men's basketball tournament from 2017-2020. The deadline to place bids was this week, and the Kansas City Sports Commission presented its 400-page beast to the Big 12 a day before the deadline, but it also produced this snazzy video showing why it thinks KC is the best place to have the conference's premier basketball event. The video is very well done, and this is something more sports commission and CVBs are going to do moving forward. Yes, hotel contracts and the like have to work out, but most cities going after these events can swing those. What separates one city from the next is sometimes small things like this video. How much does the city want the event? How much effort will go into hosting this event, ensuring it's the talk of the town? That's what often wins a bid. We can assume the competing cities will have videos out shortly, because the Big 12 conference tournament is a plum event, and competing cities won't want to look inferior to Kansas City.
