How I Got Here: My professional career started as an enlisted aircrew airman in the U.S. Air Force, where I served three tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the Air Force, while using my GI Bill majoring in sports management, I worked as director of sports at Sports Planning Guide, learning the ins and outs of the industry. After five years at SPG, I joined the DuPage CVB.
Why I Am a Game Changer: In my first 15 months at DuPage CVB, our team and local partners have added to the legacy of championship events held in DuPage by being selected to host the 2021 USBC Women’s Championships, returning to the Chicago area for the first time since 1935. We also hosted the USA Weightlifting Nationals in 2017 and were selected to host its junior championships in 2019, in addition to USA Powerlifting Open Nationals and Raw Nationals in 2019.
Greatest Career Accomplishment: Although I’m humbled by the accomplishments of the teams I’ve worked with at SPG and DuPage CVB, being awarded an Air Medal, with 62 combat flights totaling more than 640 hours, is the most meaningful professional experience I might ever have.
What I Am Working on Now: I’m extremely excited to complete the county’s first sports tourism market assessment to help us better position our communities within the region and industry. Sharing the findings and implementing the recommendations in the coming year will dramatically change and improve our county’s future and sports tourism impact.
